Research – Frost

Maxicrop enhances the ability of plants that are frost resistant to withstand cold temperatures by increasing the total soluble protein content in plants that have not been acclimatised to frost, making them hardier.

This results in less damage as a result of subsequent frosts or cold temperatures.
In trials at the University of Plymouth, barley plants that had not previously been subjected to frost, treated with Maxicrop, had survival rates that were 33% higher than controls when subjected to temperatures below 0 degrees C.

In comparison, those that had already suffered from frost and which were then treated with Maxicrop also had higher survival scores compared to controls. However, the rate of survival was not as high compared to plants that had been treated with Maxicrop prior to
frost.
