Seedlings

The use of Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant can reduce the effects of transplant shock when planting out seedlings and young plants, by boosting rooting and getting the plant growing.

Dip the rootball in a dilute solution of 10ml of Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant in 9 litres of water before transplanting outside in borders or tubs/hanging baskets.

Bulbs

You can strengthen daffodils/tulips, etc. by using Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant watered in around the bulb at the end of the season, just as the foliage dies back.

Use 1:300 foliar spray of Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant. This will provide you with strong healthy blooms in the following spring.

Shrubs

Apply a root drench of 30ml Maxicrop  the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant in 9litres of water to new shrub when it is planted and then again every seven days during the spring/summer.

This will ensure good establishment, strong rooting and, prolonged health and development of a good-looking sturdy specimen.

Switch to Maxicrop Plus Complete Feed once the shrubs are well established as recommended on the bottle.

Acid-Loving Shrubs/Flowers

Maxicrop Plus Sequestered Iron is highly beneficial to acid-loving plants and shrubs such as Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Camellias, etc.

It combines all the natural bio-stimulating goodness of seaweed extract with a fast-acting iron to green leaves and get them working again.

Use 45ml Maxicrop Plus Sequested Iron in 9.0 litres of water applied as a foliar spray thoroughly wetting the leaves every 7 days, or 45ml in 4.5 litres applied as a monthly root drench. You’ll be amazed by the results and the visible improvements in plant health!

Flower Borders

The use of Maxicrop  the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant can reduce the effects of transplant shock, particularly when planting out into cold soils in borders.

Dip the rootball in a dilute solution of 20ml Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant in 9 litres of water– then gently nurture the young plant using 30ml in 9 litres of water at every watering.

Once the plant is well established, switch to feeding it with Maxicrop Plus Flower Fertiliser or Maxicrop Plus Complete Garden Feed at every watering. This will provide outstanding results on all flowering plants in borders.

Flowers - Tubs/Baskets

In order to get tubs going really well, use Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant when watering in (20ml in 9 litres of water) and then again weekly (at 30ml in 9 litres of water) for the first 4-6 weeks. This will boost roots and strengthen leaves.

When the plants start to flower, switch to Maxicrop Plus Flower Fertiliser to provide them with NP&K, and boost flower quality and longevity.

You’ll find blooms are more prolific and provided you keep up with a programme of weekly feeding with Maxicrop Plus Flower Fertiliser then plants will last longer into the autumn.

Lawns

Maxicrop Moss Killer and Lawn Tonic is specially formulated to provide you with a perfect lawn.

It provides all the natural health providing properties of our seaweed extract with iron to kill moss and a little nitrogen to provide a good green-up.

Sprayed or watered onto lawns during the spring using 1.5 litres of Maxicrop Moss Killer and Lawn Tonic per 100 square metres will kill moss.

Maxicrop Moss Killer and Lawn Tonic can also be used in the autumn to harden the lawn off so that it better survives the rigours of the winter and maintains a healthy green colour for longer.

vegetables

The use of Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant can reduce the effects of transplant shock when planting out seedlings and young plants, by boosting rooting and getting the plant growing.

Dip the rootball in a dilute solution of 20ml Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant in 9 litres of water before transplanting outside in borders or tubs/hanging baskets.

Apply Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant as a foliar spray or root drench to all vegetables every two-three weeks. This will encourage root and leaf development and builds natural health and strong resistance to pests, diseases and environmental stresses such as drought.

Alternatively, use Maxicrop Plus Complete Garden Feed 2-3 times during the spring/summer season. Use 15ml in 9 litres of water every 7-14 days, doubling the dose to 30ml for older vegetable plants, to provide the right balance of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium to feed the plants at the same time as supplying seaweed extract for prolonged healthy growth.

Tomatoes/Cucumbers

Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant can help improve germination of salad crop seeds and boost the early growth of seedlings. See HDRA research.

Make up a very dilute solution of Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant (10ml in 9 litres of water) and soak seeds in the solution for 12 hours prior to sowing.

When it comes to planting out, dip roots in a solution of 20ml in 9 litres of water before transplanting.

Also, apply this ‘root drench’ every time water is needed – especially on seedlings and during propagation.

When fruits begin to appear and swell, switch to Maxicrop Plus Tomato Fertiliser.  This is enriched in potassium and ensures good growth and a bumper harvest.  In tomatoes, it will help provide a better flavour, size and shape.

Soft Fruit

Apply a dilute root drench of 20ml of Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant in 9 litres of water to the rootball of strawberry plants or raspberry canes when planting out.

Spray leaves or water in around the roots with the same product at 45ml in 9 litres of water during the season to ensure healthy growth, leading to bumper crops of super tasting fruit.

Apples/Pears

Regularly spray or water leaves of fruit trees with Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant at 45ml in 9.0 litres of water every 7-14 days from early April through to September.

This is the same approach widely practiced by professional fruit growers and is a natural, organic way of producing healthy, bounteous fruit crops.

PROBLEM TYPE

Clay Soils

Clay soils can be really difficult to work and remain waterlogged for long periods.
Maxicrop Cal-Sea-Feed helps to break down clays into finer aggregates, and at the same time boosts the soil microbial population and natural health of the soil.

Acid Soils

Most plants like a neutral soil with a pH of around 7.5. This ensures nutrients are available for growth.

Where pHs are below this (i.e. 4.0-6.5), applying Maxicrop Cal-Sea-Feed and working it into the soil, can rectify the problem and thereby boost sick looking plants.

Slow Growth

Plant growth will slow when soil or weather conditions become unfavourable.
Use of Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant – applied around the roots and onto the foliage – will help plants grow away from anything that checks their normal pattern of development.

Winter Damage

Severe winters and late frost can be devastating in the garden. While there are no guarantees that really badly hit plants and shrubs can be resurrected, those that do still show signs of growth can be brought back to life by using Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant.

Water around the roots with Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant (at 45ml in 9.0 litres of water ) and when leaves start to grow back. Continue the treatment every week or so – also drenching the plant – to further enhance the recovery.

This approach will strengthen plants without the weak, vulnerable growth usually caused by high nitrogen fertilisers.

Switching to a balanced feed such as Maxicrop Plus Complete Garden Feed throughout the summer builds on this and provides really good plant growth.

Frost Damage

Leaves, flowers and growing points can be scorched by late frost. While this growth cannot normally be saved, using Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant ( at 45ml in 9.0 litres of water) applied to the foliage and surrounding soil can boost new growth.

Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant can also make plants that are normally frost resistant to become hardier and less prone to damage.

Spray Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant onto the foliage prior to the onset of frost to minimise damage

Moss in Lawns

Sick looking lawns can be revitalised by using Maxicrop Moss Killer and Lawn Tonic ( at 1.5 litres per 100 square metres for moss kill) sprayed or watered on during the spring and summer.

Where the problem is more deep seated and lawns are on poor of clay soils, the Maxicrop Organic Seaweed Meal can be used to supplement nutrients and improve the soil health and structure.

Applied as a lawn dressing in the spring or the autumn and then raked in, Maxicrop Organic Seaweed Meal really boosts long-term grass health.

Poor Rooting

One of the most widely recognised benefits of all Maxicrop products is their role in improving rooting.

Probably the best product to use is Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant. Apply it (at 20ml in 9.0 litres of water) to the soil around the plant and it encourages microbes to be more active which release more nutrients and stimulate the roots.

This approach is particularly beneficial when planting out seedlings or shrubs

Transplant Shock

Take any plant out of a warm, well-watered pot environment and place it in new soil or compost, and it can struggle to get growing.

This ‘shock’ can be overcome by using Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant when planting out seedlings and young plants.

Dip the rootball in a dilute solution of 20ml in 9.0 litres of water (1:450 strength) Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant before transplanting.

Then regularly water around the roots with the same product once a week for a month or until growth really picks up.

Pest or Disease

Maxicrop will not kill pests of diseases, but it can be used to mitigate their effects.

Regular use throughout the season of any Maxicrop product will improve the plant’s natural resistance to pest and disease attack.

This is why we recommend regular use ‘little and often’ to keep plants, trees and shrubs healthy.

Weak Leaves

All Maxicrop products boost leaves by increasing chlorophyll production (chlorophyll is the essential green pigment needed for plant growth).

Maxicrop the Original Seaweed Extract Plant Growth Stimulant watered or sprayed onto the leaves (at 45ml in 9.0 litres of water) will stimulate a healthy recovery without leading to excessive growth.

In ericaceous plants, the problem may well be chlorosis (a weak yellowing) associated with lack of iron. Here Maxicrop Plus Sequestered Iron ( at 45ml in 9.0 litres of water or a foliar spray every 7 days or 45ml in 4.5 litres as a monthly root drench) is the right approach.
